Weaving in Grace

“Grace is available for each of us every day—our spiritual daily bread—but we’ve got to remember to ask for it with a grateful heart and not worry about whether there will be enough for tomorrow.”

Sarah Ban Breathnach

The blessings of grace can be tapped into at any hour, any day, by stilling ourselves and just listening and observing.

Staying fully present to the moment before us, without any attachment to outcome, further opens us to grace.

Grace comes in many forms, such as:

• Serenely watching clouds drift by.

• Engaging fully, feeling “in the flow” with the task at hand.

• Delighting in seeing a bunny hopping through the yard.

• Accepting words of love and support (and sometimes even a kick in the butt) from a friend who just happened to appear in the right moment to deliver the right message.

• Noticing and valuing the child who freely articulates his or her uniqueness in a carefree and confident manner.

• Discovering a new life path that emerges following a major, related challenge.

• Taking in the whispers of guidance that come forth in meditating or doing yoga.

During busy days, scheduling time to sit or walk in quiet renews us. Showing love and appreciation throughout the day also keeps us in a state of grace.

“Grace is the absence of everything that indicates pain or difficulty, hesitation or incongruity.” –William Hazlitt

The beauty of nature, as so exquisitely portrayed in Beth Shedd’s sunset photo, heightens our sense of grace.

So true, especially when life is dealing us hardballs….it’s grace that gets us through!

Sarah, you are so right, and it helps if we remember to call on grace, especially when we are in fear. It can help us shift into feelings of love and support.

“Whispers of guidance”….love that! Reminds me to listen more closely.
